“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”

-Dr. Maria Montessori

Welcome Back!

Welcome to our inaugural Sterling Weekly Message. More importantly, Welcome Back to the 2020-21 school year!  We have missed our Stingrays.  We know these last few months and the start of this year is very different than what we are all used to, our faculty and staff are more determined than ever to bring each student a memorable, productive and fulfilling Montessori experience!  Please be sure to complete all necessary forms BEFORE the start of school, Monday, August 17th.

Distance Learning Plans

Welcome Packets were sent out earlier this week to all our registered students.  While our commitments and strategies are aligned across all levels, each has specifics that should be reviewed.  Please see our Distance Learning page to review the plans.  We will continue to keep this page updated with any of the latest information our community needs for our Distance Learning efforts.

While you’re at it, be sure to check out our new website!  www.sterlingmontessori.org

Montessori Work Kits

WHAT A TREASURE! Our Children’s House staff have been hard at work creating Montessori Work Kits for PRL and Kindergarten students to use from home.  Kits include works known in the classroom: Sandpaper Letters & Numbers, Continent Maps, Metal Insets, Colored Beads Stairs, Number Rods, Spindle Boxes PLUS chalkboards/chalk, colored pencils, scissors, journals and many of the Montessori tools needed to complete Children’s House works. See Flyer on Sterling’s site for more details.   Kits are for sale for $75!

Contact our Director of Children’s House if interested in purchasing.

Sterling Treasure Chest

This year we are introducing Sterling’s Treasure Chest, a development Annual Fund that will focus fundraising efforts for all of Sterling!  Now, more than ever, we need the community to come together and support Sterling.  In these unprecedented times, Charter Schools need support (A Case for Support for Charter Schools).  Please visit our Giving page to find out more information and a quick link to donate now!    We encourage 100% participation, and have already achieved that with the LHU Board!  Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated.

PFA (Parent Faculty Association)

Now that communication is out for fall placement and Distance Learning Plans, we are set for COMMUNITY BUILDING! Be on the lookout for notices from PFA on how we will maintain our close and supportive community, virtually! Please note that PFA fees have been waived this year.  Please consider donating to the Annual Fund, instead!

Sterling's Faculty Spotlight

Dennis Scarborough & Betty Pickett

Dennis and Betty are our beloved husband and wife team who have been with the Sterling Community for over ten years! They have worked so hard this summer to shampoo carpets, strip and wax all floors, pressure wash sidewalks, clean baseboards and windows and thoroughly sanitize our school in preparation for our faculty and students to return!

They are two hard working staff members that we appreciate so much and couldn’t imagine our community without them!!
